A key priority of Council's recently developed Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan is to deliver activity to support "Prevention of Family Violence" in our Shire. Addressing prevention of family violence starts with addressing gender equity. Alpine Shire Council is amongst one of the largest employers of the Alpine Shire. Council has recently been successful with a funding application to the "Free from Violence Local Government Project" funding program. The project Council is to deliver is aimed to address the following: Provide training to Council staff and Councillors on the meaning and importance of gender equity in the workplace and beyond, undertake a gender equity audit of the workplace, develop a gender equity policy and provide training to Council staff and Councillors on the policy and procedures linked to the policy as well as deliver bystander training.
Fellow large employer of Alpine Shire and local health service provider, Alpine Health has completed this work for their organisation. The "training" portion of this project will be delivered with the assistance of a resource from Alpine Health. Furthermore, a number of tools already exist that should be utilised to deliver this project.
The role of the successful tenderer will be to coordinate the overall project for Council, ensuring that the requirements of the Project Plan are completed. This includes:
• identify relevant stakeholders (internal and external),
• stakeholder engagement,
• identify available resources and coordinate training as identified across the organisation,
• deliver a gender equity audit for the organisation,
• develop a gender equity policy for the organisation,
• celebrate the successes and completion of the project by coordinating stories in local publications,
• provide reporting as required of the funding agreement with state government (namely project progress report at 30 June
2019),
• project completion and reporting by 30 September 2019.
