The Alpine Shire Council is seeking offers from suitably qualified and experienced contractors for the renewal of the Myrtleford Old School Museum.
The rear section of the Museum which was originally constructed in 1870, 1883 and 1879 has suffered significant deterioration. The locally made bricks have deteriorated significantly as well as the original lime mortar joints. The brickwork has been subject to numerous bee infestations over the past few years which has increased the rate of deterioration.
The Contract provides for the whole of the works according to the specification including:
• Removal of damaged and deteriorated bricks and replacement of the bricks with recycled bricks of similar shape, colour, texture and size. Approx. 100 bricks.
• Repointing of errored lime mortar joints with traditional lime mortar.
• Removal of cement mortar and repointing brickwork with traditional lime mortar.
• Lime wash of the external walls with a new colour matched traditional lime wash.
