Communities of the Alpine Shire are currently experiencing shortages of housing available for key workers. Contributing to this shortage is the increase to the number of properties being made available on the short-term let (holiday) market atop of recent population growth with families moving from cities into the region throughout the COVID19 pandemic purchasing or renting limited available properties. Atop of the high level of housing stock being short-term let is the increase to amenity issues arising from visitors staying in short-term let accommodation. Council is seeking to engage an experienced consultant to explore and recommend ways in which Council may manage short-term accommodation.
