Alpine Shire Council (Council) recognises the importance of community infrastructure in supporting and strengthening local communities, providing spaces for interaction and community events, and facilitating participation and engagement in public life. The availability of a range of social, educational, sporting and recreational activities provides a foundation for social connection and belonging, reducing the risk of social isolation and the development of concomitant issues.
Council is seeking to employ the services of a consultant to prepare a community infrastructure needs assessment (CINA) for Alpine Shire.
The CINA will need to provide a cohesive understanding of community infrastructure needs within Alpine Shire and integrate those needs in Council’s future strategic land use planning.
The consultant will investigate the long-term role and function that existing facilities may play in meeting the needs of residents of Alpine Shire up to 2041 and beyond. This will include the identification of further opportunities to provide facilities and/or resources at relevant sites, and potential apportionment of rationalised costs possibly through pre-rezoning Section 173 Agreements in the future. The resulting report will provide essential strategic justification for community infrastructure to be included in Council’s future strategic land use planning.
