Alpine Shire Council operated Porepunkah landfill in North East Victoria is ceasing to operate as a standard landfill and potentially becoming a regional transfer station. As part of the transformation, Council is rehabilitating the site in accordance with Environment Protection Authority (EPA) guidelines. Alpine Shire Council have already completed and obtained EPA approval on a rehabilitation design and quality assurance plan for the Porepunkah landfill.
As part of the rehabilitation works an estimated 25,500m3 of fill material is required from a local borrow site, or alternative source, to provide a capping layer over the old waste cells. Council is looking to engage a suitably qualified consultant to undertake geotechnical testing, survey and design works to provide Council with a borrow design and method of obtaining the required capping material for inclusion into the Stage 1 Construction tender.
