Purpose
Austroads and Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia (PIPA) are seeking tenders from appropriately qualified and experienced service providers to:
“Prepare a technical report that provides all necessary parameters, processes and guidance for the effective design and installation of buried flexible thermoplastic pipes under roads.”
Scope
The scope of the project includes:
• Conduct an international literature review
• Determine and document the performance of existing buried flexible pipe installations under roads in Australia and overseas
• Develop a risk bowtie for buried flexible pipes, including fire and vandalism risks, together with potential risk controls and their effectiveness
• Define, justify and document all necessary design parameters and processes for the efficient design and installation of buried flexible pipe including:
- Incorporating AS 5100.2 traffic live loads and distributions when designing with AS/NZS 2566.1;
- Soil properties namely native and embedment material modulus values; and
- Typical material properties for design purposes.
Deliverables
This project will produce the following deliverables:
• Project delivery inception meeting and minutes
• A project plan
• A literature review
• A review of past performance of buried flexible pipes
• A draft final technical report for consultation
• A concise final technical report to PIPA/Austroads that includes the following:
- Literature review findings
- Existing pipe performance review findings
- Assessment of all relevant parameters and processes for the design and installation of buried flexible pipes
- Conclusions and recommendations on all relevant parameters and processes for the design and installation of buried flexible pipes
- Commentary and guidance as required for the easy and consistent interpretation and application of the recommendations
• A PowerPoint presentation to the industry on the final report (to be delivered in person if required or by video conference)
• Data Management Plan
• Project data with populated metadata spreadsheet.
Also included as part of this tender are the following documents:
• Writing & Format Requirements for Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
• Master Services Agreement outlining our Terms and Conditions. Please note that our Terms and Conditions are not negotiable.
All submissions are to be submitted as a PDF at a maximum size of 10MB.
All submissions are to include a completed Tender Proposal Coversheet.
