PURPOSE:
The purpose of this request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) is to identify appropriately qualified and motivated practitioners to contribute to ongoing development and maintenance of the Austroads Guide to Road Design (AGRD) through membership of a new Road Design Guidance Expert Panel (Panel).
SCOPE AND METHODOLOGY:
Austroads seeks expressions of interest to join the Road Design Guidance Expert Panel from suitably motivated and qualified road design professionals with specialisation and experience in one or more of the following areas of expertise:
• Geometric design – intersections
• Geometric design – roundabouts
• Geometric design – interchange
• Hydrology and drainage
• Roadsides
• Road safety barriers
• Temporary works
• Road design in streets contexts, including the integration of and interface with Place functions
• Road design for high function, high capacity and/or high speed
• Road design for lower volume roads and remote areas
• Design objectives and outcomes
• Design for active transport (walking and cycling)
• Interface between transport planning and road design
• Interface between transport operations and road design
• Incorporation of the Safe System into road design
• Development and writing of design guidance.
Austroads intends to form the Panel with coverage across the areas identified above. Some experts may have nominated coverage of more than one area and some areas may have more than one nominated expert (see Panel Format below). If successful, experts will be advised of which specialised areas they have been accepted to advise upon.
OBJECTIVES:
The Panel seeks to provide:
• Austroads with access to the necessary expertise to develop and maintain best practice road design guidance, and
• Individuals and their employers a mechanism by which they can actively contribute to development of road design guidance without substantial opportunity cost to alternative commercial opportunities.
Also included as part of this tender are the following documents:
• Writing & Format Requirements for Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
• Master Services Agreement outlining our Terms and Conditions. Please note that our Terms and Conditions are not negotiable.
All submissions are to be submitted as a PDF at a maximum size of 10MB.
The naming convention for submissions is: [your Company name] – [Project No.] – [any internal reference numbers].
