Tender Details
Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to identify worldwide best practice to minimise the likelihood and consequences of drivers of over height vehicles attempting to enter or entering tunnels, and to identify the most effective process to clear stopped over height vehicles.

Mitigations may include signage, ITS, and infrastructure with a view to creating a comprehensive, overarching strategy. It is anticipated that a follow-up to the project would lead to either stand-alone guidance or updates to the Austroads Guide to Road Tunnels. The project will build upon project ART6233 Guide to Road Tunnels Part 2 update: rationalising network signage for over height vehicles, and the research report it produced Network Signage for Over Height Vehicles Approaching Road Tunnels (AP-T36-21).

Scope:

This project will undertake the desktop research to identify best practice for all infrastructure and ITS systems required to mitigate over height vehicles attempting to or entering a tunnel. The outputs will ultimately support development of future guidance.

The project scope will include how to best manage over height vehicles once identified and stopped, and how to effectively manage them off the network or assess if they can proceed through the tunnel.

There are currently different approaches on how to communicate and manage over height vehicles. This project will allow tunnel operators to understand worldwide best practice, with systems and infrastructure that is to be maintained by the tunnel operators.

This project will produce the following final deliverables:
• Research report
• Webinar
• Project data with populated metadata spreadsheet.

Also included as part of this tender are the following documents:
• Writing & Format Requirements for Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
• Master Services Agreement outlining our Terms and Conditions. Please note that our Terms and Conditions are not negotiable.

All submissions are to be submitted as a PDF at a maximum size of 10MB.

All submissions are to include a completed Tender Proposal Coversheet.
