Purpose:
Through consultation with each jurisdiction, this project will identify a set of high value/high impact safety interventions together with their likely trauma reduction impacts at different investment levels. The project will quantify (at a macro level) the impact of these interventions based on each jurisdiction’s current road safety plans/strategies to determine a high-level estimate of road trauma levels in Australia and New Zealand by 2020. With an estimate of each jurisdiction’s trauma reductions, the project will encourage jurisdictions and the Commonwealth to lift their ambition and adopt a program of measures with greater trauma reduction.
Deliverables:
• Agreed set of safety initiatives together with estimates of their impact to take to the jurisdictions and the Commonwealth (documented)
• A document summarising the suites of initiatives currently planned by each jurisdiction and the Commonwealth and the expected trauma levels in 2020.
• A document summarising the suites of proposed initiatives agreed within each jurisdiction and the Commonwealth provided to the Steering Committee
• Final report
