Purpose:
This project will define the requirements for improving the General Mechanistic Procedure (GMP) so that the structural capacity of existing pavements can be consistently and reliably assessed for project level remaining life and rehabilitation treatment design including both overlays and inlays.
Deliverables:
The project is expected to deliver the following outputs:
• Identification of the issues that need to be defined/developed in order for the GMP to be developed to evaluate project level structural capacity, remaining life and rehabilitation designs.
• Identification of existing analysis techniques, both national and international, that are available to model/address the issues identified and an assessment of their suitability for inclusion in the GMP.
• Identification and scoping of analysis techniques that need to be developed to model/address these issues for inclusion in the GMP.
• A framework for improvement of the GMP so that existing pavement structural capacity and remaining life can be evaluated on a project level basis.
• A framework for improvement of the GMP and linkage to the pavement design processes for new pavements so that existing pavement structural capacity can be reliably considered in rehabilitation design at project level basis.
