Purpose:

This project will undertake a review of existing tools (including tables, data, research outputs, and systems) used by jurisdictions to assess and decide on road freight access requests, and then prepare a decision making framework as a structured central repository to support road managers in efficiently leveraging off these existing tools.

Deliverables:

A research report describing the existing tools used by road managers to make road freight access decisions, providing a gap analyis between these tools, and presenting guidelines to assist road managers (including Local Governments) in using these tools going forward.

All recommendations provided by the selected Consultant as part of the project are required to be accompanied at a minimum by a high-level qualitative assessment of costs and efforts that would be incurred by the Austroads members for their implementation. Jurisdictions impact will be discussed and assessed collaboratively throughout the project between the Project manager, the Project Working Group and the selected Consultant.

All data / datasets captured and /or generated as part of the project form part of the project outputs that the selected Consultant is responsible to deliver to Austroads. Direction regarding the expected output format of the data / datasets will be sought by the Consultant during the project through the Austroads Project Manager.
