Purpose:
This is a sub-project of APT6249 Protocol for the assessment of waste materials in road surfacings and update to Guide to Pavement Technology Parts 2, 4E & 5.
The purpose of this sub-project is to address gaps and update information in the current Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology (AGPT) Part 4E: Recycled Materials and other Austroads guidance related to use of recycled (‘waste’) materials in roads generally and pavement surfacings specifically.
The outcomes of the project will assist road transport agencies to make more informed decisions about the use of recycled materials in road pavements. It will provide:

The project will update the technical basis of the guidelines to reflect current practice and knowledge and promote improved practice in the use of recycled materials in road pavements.
Deliverables:

• Updated edition of Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology Parts 4E: Recycled Materials that includes:
A holistic, comprehensive and contemporary assessment framework for the use of recycled materials in road pavements
A written protocol for the assessment of waste, recycled and novel materials in asphalt. This should be published as an appendix to AGPT Part 4E but should also be usable as a stand-alone document.
• A technical basis/supporting report that includes the literature review and provides the technical basis for update to AGPT Part 4E, including the protocol for asphalt and sprayed seals.
• A webinar.
• Internal workshops and reports
Also included as part of this tender are the following documents:
