PURPOSE:
The purpose of this project is to improve and optimise transport infrastructure project delivery performance.


SCOPE:
The scope of this project includes progressing the recommendations and actions from the Austroads research report Optimising Project Delivery Performance (AP-R630-20). The primary focus is to progress the short term (<2 year) recommended actions:

1. Support informed acceleration of projects
Austroads to work with agencies to develop best practice guidance on understanding and mitigating the impacts of accelerating projects (informed by research across all jurisdictions of accelerated projects compared with projects following a more typical project lifecycle).

2. Amplify excellence
Austroads to work with agencies to promote champions of excellence - innovators/experts who can disseminate best practice/lessons learnt across jurisdictions. Topics include scope definition, project management, supplier management, records management, risk management, traffic management, stakeholder engagement and communications, and emerging technology opportunities for site surveillance/project monitoring.

The medium and long term recommended actions are also in scope to the extent that consideration is made to develop discrete and useable deliverables (such as guides, practice notes, checklists, tools) within the budget and time period nominated to deliver this project. Each deliverable relating to the medium or long term recommendations to be identified and costed separately in the proposal submission.


DELIVERABLES:
This project will produce the following final deliverables:
• Guideline providing consistent guidance to support accelerated project delivery and improved capture and implementation of project learnings.
• A webinar.

• Instructions for Authors of Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
