Please note the following tenders have linkages and are being advertised concurrently:
• APT6329 Method for considering remaining life in the design of pavement rehabilitation treatments
• APT6330 Improved mechanistic empirical procedure for reflective cracking in design of asphalt overlays.
Submissions for each tender should be provided separately.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this project is to develop an approach for assessing the remaining fatigue capacity of existing bound materials for incorporation in the mechanistic empirical design procedure (MEP) for pavement rehabilitation.
SCOPE:
This project will develop a method of assessing the remaining structural capacity of an existing asphalt layer by assessing an existing full depth asphalt (FDA) pavement and developing a design procedure to evaluate the remaining structural capacity of existing uncracked asphalt layers in a pavement. This procedure will then be evaluated by Austroads members to assess its merits and expansion to encompass other bound materials and adoption in Austroads Guide for Pavement Technology Part 5: Pavement Evaluation and Treatment Design (AGPT05).
This project involves developing the preferred process to use by designers that was identified and outlined in Austroads Research Report Strategy for an Improved Mechanistic-empirical Flexible Pavement Treatment Design. It will be applied on an existing Full Depth Asphalt (FDA) pavement site to assess its viability before being developed further to encompass other bound pavement materials, trialling by Austroads member organisations and to be included in AGPT05.
The FDA pavement will be cored and tested to assess the relationship between trafficked and untrafficked bound material before developing a performance model and procedure to enable the assessment of the remaining structural capacity of the existing asphalt layers.
DELIVERABLES:
This project will produce the following final deliverables:
• Technical report
• Proposed text to include in an updated version of Austroads Guide for Pavement Technology Part 5: Pavement Evaluation and Treatment Design.
Also included as part of this tender are the following documents:
• Instructions for Authors of Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
• Master Services Agreement outlining our Terms and Conditions. Please note that our Terms and Conditions are not negotiable.
All submissions are to be submitted as a PDF at a maximum size of 10MB.
All submissions are to include a completed Tender Proposal Coversheet.
The naming convention for submissions is: [your Company name] – [Project No.] – [any internal reference numbers].
All submissions are to include a statement as to how the respondent proposes to undertake the work, and keep to the agreed deadlines, given the current and proposed requirements and restrictions due to COVID-19.
