Purpose:

Austroads seeks responses from appropriately experienced service providers to develop guidance to inform the planning and design of bus infrastructure with an aim to enhance safety for all road users, maintain road network performance, support bus performance and reliability, and increase consistency in treatments related to buses running within the road reserve.

Deliverables:

This project will produce the following deliverables:

Phase 1:
• Project Management Plan
• Stakeholder Analysis and Engagement Plan.
• Research Plan.
• Project Data Management Plan.

Phase 2:
• The consultant will develop a Research Report Module 1 ‘Principles underpinning the Guidance’ to document the results of Phase 2. The research report will eventually form a supporting document to the Guideline - Planning and Design of Bus Infrastructure on Roads.

Phase 3:
• The consultant will develop a Research Report Module 2 ‘Best practice in bus infrastructure planning and design’ to document the results of Phase 3. The research report will eventually form a supporting document to the Guideline - Planning and Design of Bus Infrastructure on Roads.

Phase 4:
• Full proposed guidance document structure, noting additional considerations concerning usability and utility.
• Bus Infrastructure Planning and Design guidance document with complete chapters to fulfill Phase 3 and address feedback from the multi-stage review process for Phases 1 and 2
• Recommended changes to AGTM and AGRD
• Webinar
• Project data with populated metadata spreadsheet

• Writing & Format Requirements for Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
