Purpose:
To develop a nationally consistent procedure for assessing the mass (weighing) of Oversize/Overmass (OSOM) vehicles (e.g. low-loader and platform trailers carrying large indivisible items), that will withstand engineering and legal scrutiny. This project will conduct the necessary experiments and field trials as determined by the Field Trial Matrix (supplied), analyse data and develop operating procedures for roadside mass assessment for OSOM vehicles.
This project will also consider and recommend applicable Mass Measurement Adjustment (MMA) for the weighing of OSOM vehicles.
