Purpose:
Road agencies are seeking to predict the future skills and capabilities they may need in the next 20 years to align with technological advances and declining revenues. It is recognised they also need to look beyond engineering skills in the future and look more broadly at skills in areas such as project, contract, commercial and business management, data analytics and control engineering and impacts of Cooperative ITS and Connected and Automated Vehicles (there may be others). The research needs to look beyond road agencies and include local government, industry, educational institutions and other Government Departments.
Deliverables:
Written reports which include:
• Report of Project findings resulting from the analysis and research (including Literature review);
• Gap Analysis Document;
• Proposed infrastructure investment data, and potential future supply of civil engineering, project, contract, commercial and business management capabilities based on graduate, retirement and market data;
• Future and shape of road authority projections;
• A road map detailing the current state and where road authorities might be in 2027 and positioning the determination of capabilities based on several scenarios of a possible future road agency structure;
• A Capabilities Modelling Document.
