Tender Details
Please note the following tenders have linkages and are being advertised concurrently:
• APT6329 Method for considering remaining life in the design of pavement rehabilitation treatments
• APT6330 Improved mechanistic empirical procedure for reflective cracking in design of asphalt overlays.

Submissions for each tender should be provided separately.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this project is to develop an approach for the design of asphalt overlays considering resistance to reflective cracking in the mechanistic empirical procedure (MEP) using the preferred method (Texas Transportation Institute) identified in a previous Austroads Project APT6204 Improved general mechanistic procedure for pavement rehabilitation. The approach to be incorporated in the Austroads pavement design process.

SCOPE:
The scope of this project is to apply and evaluate the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) model as outlined in the Austroads Research Report Strategy for an Improved Mechanistic-empirical Flexible Pavement Treatment Design to the design of overlays for reflective cracking under local conditions.
Laboratory testing and characterisation of asphalt properties of selected mixes will be undertaken to generate inputs into the models. Characterisation of typical cracks will also be undertaken to measure the associated load transfer efficiency for use in the models.
The project will carry out a sensitivity analysis and develop local design input parameters for the TTI model for practitioners to apply in the design of asphalt overlays.

DELIVERABLES:
This project will produce the following final deliverables:
• Technical report that recommends the design approach and parameters to be used when applied under local conditions.
• Updated edition of the Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology Part 5: Pavement Evaluation and Treatment Design (AGPT05).
• A webinar.

Also included as part of this tender are the following documents:
• Instructions for Authors of Austroads Publications which sets out the writing and formatting standards for research, technical and internal reports.
• Master Services Agreement outlining our Terms and Conditions. Please note that our Terms and Conditions are not negotiable.
All submissions are to be submitted as a PDF at a maximum size of 10MB.
All submissions are to include a completed Tender Proposal Coversheet.
The naming convention for submissions is: [your Company name] – [Project No.] – [any internal reference numbers].

All submissions are to include a statement as to how the respondent proposes to undertake the work, and keep to the agreed deadlines, given the current and proposed requirements and restrictions due to COVID-19.
