Purpose:
The purpose of this project is to identify the gaps in current physical and digital road infrastructure provided to support the operation of Automated Vehicles across key highways and freeways across Australia and New Zealand.
Deliverables:
This project is expected to produce the following deliverables:
• A report that includes:
o A detailed outline of the methodology of the survey
o Road networks being surveyed
o Issues and gaps found based on the survey
o overall readiness of the whole Freeway/Highway network
o overall readiness of each ANZ Jurisdictions’ Freeway/Highway network
• Data of surveyed road network in GIS format (ESRI Shape file is preferred or other format agreed by Austroads) that can identify:
o Road sections that meet the specification in Appendix A (outlined in Project Brief)
o Road sections that do not meet the specification in Appendix A and reasons (outlined in Project Brief)
Information Session
This project is a complex project with a number of risks and Austroads anticipates that there may be a number of questions from industry. As such, an Information session will be held on Tuesday 26 June 2018 from 3:30pm to 5pm (AEST) at Level Ground Theatrette Rear 60 Denmark St, Kew, VIC (VicRoads office, report to reception on arrival).

1. To provide a brief to the industry on a planning Austroads project that requires to conduct a pilot survey on Australia and New Zealand Freeway and Highway network to investigate the current physical and digital roads infrastructure readiness for supporting the operation of automated vehicles.
2. To provide an opportunity for people to discuss partnership arrangements
3. To provide the opportunity for people to digest the Project Brief and ask questions
