Adviser to the Pacific Steering Committee for Sustainable Development

Background

Since endorsement of the Pacific Roadmap for Sustainable Development (PRSD) by Pacific Leaders in 2017, the Pacific region has:
i) produced its first Quadrennial Pacific Sustainable Development Report (PSDR);
ii) coordinated support to six Pacific Island countries to undertake their Voluntary National Reviews on implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs(VNRs);
iii) established the Pacific Steering Committee for Sustainable Development to guide the implementation and monitoring of the PRSD; and
iv) is supporting preparations for the 2019 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development (July), the UN Climate Change Summit (23 Sept), the UN SDG Summit (24, 25 Sept), the Financing For Development High Level Meeting (26 Sept) and the S.A.M.O.A Pathway Mid Term Review Summit (27 Sept).

PSCSD Membership

The Pacific Steering Committee on Sustainable Development (PSCSD), consisting of 10 representatives from member countries, CROP, UN, development partners and non-state actors, replaces the Pacific SDGs Taskforce and guides the implementation and monitoring of the PRSD. The PSCSD will report annually to the FEMM and biennially through the FEMM to Pacific Leaders on key regional and national actions and resources required to accelerate the implementation and achievement of sustainable and resilient development in the Pacific.

Purpose

This tender is required for the recruitment of an experienced development practitioner from the Pacific with significant experience in regional and national development planning, financing, monitoring and reporting in the region and will be required to provide assistance to the Engagement Adviser on Sustainable Development, the PIFS and PSCSD and PSCSD WG with regard to any work reasonably required or requested in relation to VNR, PRSD, PSCSD, APFSD, HLPF and relevant UNGA summits, SDGs, SAMOA Pathway.

Scope of Work

The Special Adviser will be hired on a flexible basis to assist the PSCSD and the PIFS to carry out their responsibilities and tasks as set out under the Terms of Reference (TOR) document which can be downloaded from www.tenders.net/forumsec.
