CONTRACT GWS407
REPAIRS TO REGIONAL OUTFALL CHANNEL (ROS)

The Regional Outfall Sewer (ROS) was constructed in 1956. It consists of 44 km of reinforced concrete pipe and 40 km of earthen channel. The ROS is the main outfall infrastructure for a large part of central Gippsland including the townships of Traralgon, Morwell, Rosedale, Churchill, Yinnar, Boolarra, Rosedale, Glengarry and Toongabbie and major industries including Australian Paper and National Foods. Average daily discharge from the Gippsland Water Factory (GWF) varies between 20 ML/d and as high as 50 ML/d
Ongoing preventative upgrades of this asset will be required in order to extend the serviceable life of the ROS. The ROS is a critical asset requiring a high level of reliability, because it is the only disposal route for treated wastewater for the above towns and industries.
