Creswick community has identified a need to implement youth lead strategies to engage and assist youth with a community integration.
Hepburn Shire has limited specific youth focused activities however a wide range of all ages activities. The Council funds a youth lead interest-based activity through out the year both regionally and based in Creswick including Freeza and Skate competitions. The Creswick Neighbourhood house runs Kids craft club, Tank Team arts program, and a range of Creative, health and fitness, environment, food and garden-based community groups/courses for all ages. There is a scout’s group, Motorcycle club and light horse brigade that have all been on hold during Coved 19 pandemic.
This project will consist of engaging a consultant to prepare a business case that will inform on the best model for a collaborative youth activation project. This will be driven by Council and key stakeholders and used as a trial project in Creswick in early 2021 with the possibility to be used to roll out in other towns within the Hepburn region in the future pending funding.
This project will also consist of engaging a consultant to work with Council officers to prepare a Youth Strategy that will inform on the best model for implementing youth activation strategies. The project will involve links to government legislation and strategies, regional stakeholder action plans, collating current localized data, engaging in community consultation with both community members and key stakeholders as well as Council officers, to determine agreed goals and outcomes that will be drafted into a Youth Strategy.
