Biodiversity assessments are needed for the four townships of Clunes, Daylesford / Hepburn Springs, Trentham and Glenlyon. This work will identify and assess the biodiversity values within the Established Township Areas and additional categories of Township investigation area to inform the preparation of the draft Structure Plans to allow for urban development.
The scope of works will include a desktop assessment, on-ground assessment and a comprehensive report with a series of detailed maps and written assessments.
The purpose of the Biodiversity Assessment is to inform strategic planning decisions regarding future growth and avoid conflicts between urban development and ecological decisions in the more detailed planning process. The Assessment will also identify any opportunities and constraints which relate to biodiversity values in the investigation areas. At a later stage, more detailed vegetation assessments, surveys and identification of ecological values will occur once development impacts are known. A key part of this project is to ensure local biodiversity is improved, enhanced and protected.
