Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Onion nutrition education program for health professionals and the food service industry (VN20002).
The objectives of the services being sought are to:
• Educate health and food service industry professionals about the health benefits and culinary uses of Australian onions through an engagement and extension program informed by credible science
• Increase health professional knowledge about the role of onions in disease prevention and management
• Increase food industry knowledge about the role of onions as an important component of a healthy diet and showcase their unique value proposition by supporting health and wellness, particularly as consumers become more interested in gut health and foods that play a key role in supporting immunity
• Stay abreast of new developments in onion health benefit related clinical trials from around the world and ensure results are appropriately communicated in Australia
• Build upon Hort Innovation’s and industry’s science-based onion digital platform housing research and resources so it can be shared with health and food service professional stakeholders.
This Onion nutrition education program for health professionals and the food service industry (VN20002). investment will be run in parallel with project: Educating the food industry about Australian Mushrooms (MU20003). Whilst these projects will be awarded separately, Hort Innovation will look for efficiencies if potential delivery partners respond to both.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
