Request for Proposal: RB21001 Using pheromones and traps in the management of mirids and vegetable bugs
Horticulture Innovation Australia (Hort Innovation) is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Using pheromones and traps in the management of mirids and vegetable bugs (RB21001).
The project aims to attract a suitable qualified PhD student to deliver on the following key objectives:
• Understand the physical and biochemical sources for variation in attractiveness in mirid and vegetable bug populations.
• Develop a pathway for the effective pest monitoring by evaluating trapping efficacy using adaptable, pheromones/pheromone blends.
• Develop effective trap management plan to maximise efficiency and enable large-scale management.
• Develop industry recommendations on the use of pheromones and traps and how these fit within an IPM control of mirids and vegetable bugs.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
