Request for Proposal: Carbohydrate management in avocado production systems
Horticulture Innovation Australia (Hort Innovation) is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $16.3 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $158 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Carbohydrate management in avocado production systems (AV24008).
The project targets regional challenges to improve the sustainability and productivity of avocado orchards by:
• Developing carbohydrate management practices that enhance consistent flowering, fruit set and retention under irregular crop loads.
• Understanding carbohydrate partitioning and its impact on flowering and fruit set, growth and development.
• Creating tools and protocols for better carbohydrate management.
• Investigating methods to optimise carbohydrate allocation for improved productivity.
• Improving the balance between source and sink activities for optimal growth.
• Developing tools to predict yields based on orchard carbohydrate status.
• Developing and extending practical guidelines for growers to enhance carbohydrate management.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
