Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $9 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $100 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Tropical fruit export strategy (MT17002).
The objective of the services being sought is to develop an export strategy for the persimmon, passionfruit, lime, lychee, banana and papaya industries in addition to validating the recommendations within the (separately procured) mango strategy. The strategy will focus on export development opportunities that qualify for prioritisation through potential to deliver trade that is viable over the longer term, developing business cases for these.
The export strategy will be developed through engaging with stakeholders to collate information and undertake supporting analysis, to clearly identify market access goals and objectives for the seven tropical industries included. This will include, but not be limited to, the identification and prioritisation of key export markets and key export commodities into those markets, market access priorities ranked within each industry, maintaining or improving current market access and relevant protocols, developing new export markets where market access is available and growing current export markets. The strategy should outline the long term strategic export objectives for each category as well as shorter term market/commodity specific objectives.
The intended uses of the export strategy are:
• Export development activity by the seven tropical industries that are focused on strategic objectives in the short- and long-term
• Timely and effective R&D investments by Hort Innovation and partners that provide the data required to support market access and market improvement requests and industry development through export readiness initiatives, prioritised in the export strategy
• To underpin prioritisation of activities and negotiations for market access and market improvement by the federal government for the tropical industries.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties. The RFP may be downloaded from www.tenders.net (you will need to be a member of tenders.net to access this information).
The closing date for responses is Wednesday 9th August 2017, 5.00 pm (AEST).
