Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $9 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $100 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Pineapple Integrated Crop Protection Program (PI17001).
The objectives of the services being sought are to help Hort Innovation:
• Deliver the Pineapple Integrated Crop Protection (ICP) Program via on-farm grower-hosted demonstration sites. Key focus areas are:
o Site selection, layout and drainage
o Ground preparation, fallow management and bed formation
o Management of erosion and sedimentation
o Best practise leading-edge crop nutrition
o Integrated Pest and Disease Management (IPDM) strategies
• Complement on-farm demonstrations with a variety of methods to disseminate information and promote the adoption R&D. This may include print, electronic, social media and other face-to-face methods as well as field days
• Increase industry awareness of the latest relevant R&D outcomes related to improved practice on-farm and identify gaps in industry production systems that can be applied to pineapples
• Coordinate improved practice information delivery to the Australian pineapple Industry in a timely and strategic manner
• Complement and utilise the existing industry information delivery channels.
