Request for Proposal: Benefits, challenges and facilitating green spaces in early education and primary school settings
Horticulture Innovation Australia (Hort Innovation) is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and capable delivery partner/s to express interest in projects related to: Benefits, challenges and facilitating green spaces in early education and primary school settings (GC22003).
The objective of this program is:
• To normalise green spaces in early childhood and primary education settings through developing the rationale, policy and tools to enable education providers to increase green spaces. The research would need to highlight the benefits of green space to both children and teaching staff.
• Increase the expectation of more green space among children, to help drive future demand for green space.
This program may include:
• An investigation into the existing theory on this topic and a review of the barriers to adoption of green spaces and indoor green spaces in early childhood and primary education settings, including from Australian and internationally based projects.
• Develop tools for implementation, including theoretical (such as health benefits information) and practical information kits targeting educators, school principals and management committees. Note that projects targeting implementation must work with education departments, regulatory bodies and similar as relevant to the age group and state of work, and in accordance with any legal requirements and policies of the schools, early education centres, or other institutions involved.
• Develop policy recommendations and supporting documentation.
An idea submission may respond to one or more of the above points, or present ideas related to this work but not listed here and be transformational, new research, including new data and insights. Following evaluation of the submission a program or related projects will be established.
Hort Innovation has prepared an Expression of Interest (EOI) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
The EOI may be downloaded from www.tenders.net (you will need to be a member of tenders.net to access this information).
The closing date for responses is 10 February 2023, 3.00 pm (AEDT).
