Tender Details
The RARAI project is a 48 month flagship EURO 13 m project being implemented under the EU-financed Accompanied Measures for Sugar Protocol (AMSP) programme. It was launched in the framework for Annual Action programme 2013. It is scheduled to run from January 2015 to January 2019. The project focuses on cane access road rehabilitation and associated infrastructure (e.g. drainage, Irish crossings etc.) in 3 sectors (Drasa, Koronubu and Malolo) of the sugar cane belt region of western Viti Levu; Community inclusion in rehabilitation and maintenance of cane access roads and the establishment of road maintenance programme.
The RARAI project key result areas:
•KRA1 - Improved Watershed management in three specific sugar cane sectors (Malolo, Drasa and Koronubu) through rehabilitation and maintenance of cane access roads (improved rural infrastructure)
•KRA2 - Increased community/household income through community inclusion in the rehabilitation and maintenance of cane access roads including associated rural infrastructure (transport system)
•KRA3 - A road maintenance system (programme/plan) is established.
The project is now entering the final months of its implementation period with a number of final procurement exercises to be concluded and a significant amount of contract management needed to see out existing contracts prior to the projects end date and also into the projects closure phase.
The Fairtrade Associations Capacity Building and Farm Advisory Services Support project (henceforth referred to as the Fairtrade Project) is a 48-month EURO 1.5 million project implemented by the Pacific Community (SPC) under the EU-financed Accompanying Measures Sugar Protocol (AMSP) programme. The project started in 2015 and is scheduled to close down in December 2018. The overall objective of the project is to promote income generation through sugarcane farming and alternatives. More specifically, the project aims to strengthen Fairtrade sugar stakeholders in the face of adverse effects brought on by recent sugar reforms.
The Fairtrade projects two Key Result Areas are:
•KRA1 - Improved opportunities to reach and service Fair trade sugar markets
•KRA 2 - Farm Advisory Services are supported.
The Reforest Fiji project comes under the Annual Action Programme 2013 of the Accompanying Measures for Sugar Protocol (AMSP) Programme which works to address the Fiji Government's "National Adaptation Strategy for the Fiji Sugar Industry". Reforest Fiji is an initiative funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the Pacific Community (SPC).
The projects Key Result Areas are as follows:
•KRA1: On-going soil erosion on the sloping foothills within the three selected sugarcane sectors are reversed;
•KRA2: Income to cane growers and native communities generated through the establishment and ownership of forest plantations; and
•KRA3: Improved road access, watershed, drainage and associated rural infrastructure in sugarcane areas.
