The OFP is primary scientific services provider for the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC). A key task that the OFP does (through the Stock Assessment and Modelling section) is conduct regular stock assessments of oceanic fisheries in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO). These include tuna, billfish, and sharks. The main assessment platform used and developed for this purpose is Multifan-CL (MFCL) (https://mfcl.spc.int/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1:multifancl&catid=2&Itemid=101). MFCL has been develop ongoing for a number of years and is the primary platform for the stock assessments, a good knowledge of this software will be important to undertake the work under this TOR. MFCL is feely available at the URL link above, and the License is owned by SPC.

This consultant will provide assistance to OFP in delivering on Results 2.1 and specifically in the fulfilment of the “Specific Services and Terms of Reference for the Provision of Scientific Services to the WCPFC” as outlined in the MOU between WCPFC and SPC (https://www.wcpfc.int/doc/wcpfc-spc-ofp-revisedmemorandum-understanding) and any associated contracts between SPC and WCPFC.
