The Water Scarcity project aims to enhance the resilience of remote communities in Kiribati to water scarcity by improving water storage, networks, and monitoring infrastructure. Key activities include:
• Rehabilitating and repairing water catchment/storage infrastructure
• Installing new water catchment/storage infrastructure
• Expanding water monitoring systems
• Building capacity for sustainable water use and maintenance
The Government of Kiribati, through its Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy and Maritime Division (MISE), is responsible for maintaining and repairing water assets on the outer islands. MISE, with SPC’s support, is procuring necessary water infrastructure materials for these islands.
