The Pacific Community (SPC) through the Pacific Community Centre for Ocean Science (PCCOS) and the UN Decade endorsed program called the Pacific Solutions: Integrated Ocean Management (PSIOM) aim to help Pacific Island governments and communities easily access the ocean science and expertise they need to make informed decisions and to protect and sustainably manage ocean resources. In ways to support Ocean Offices and engage with young people in the Ocean Science sector, PCCOS is looking to create and dynamize a Pacific Early Career Ocean Professionals (Pacific ECOP) network, which would regroup multidisciplinary ocean professionals and young people in the ocean space. Recognising the importance of youth engagement and national capacity building, SPC is investing in developing a Pacific Early Career Ocean Professionals (Pacific ECOP) Network. This network will nurture the next generation of Pacific Ocean professionals, support country-level implementation of Integrated Ocean Management (IOM) and National Ocean Policies (NOP) and strengthen peer-to-peer collaboration within and across Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs).
