Towong Shire Council is seeking quotations from suitably experienced and qualified contractors to undertake the construction of a new boat ramp, gravel access road and gravel parking area at the Tintaldra Recreation Reserve.
The Tintaldra reserve consists of an area of around 5,500m2 amongst mostly exotic, mature trees. A small number of eucalypt trees and a willow tree exist on the water’s edge near the top of the bank at the site. The riverbank itself has been shored up with rock, waste concrete and other large rubble, possibly during the demolition of the former Tintaldra road bridge which was decommissioned around 1959.
The existing boat ramp comprises an informal, gravel track cut into the existing bank of the river, with the launching site located between the piers of the Tintaldra Road Bridge and is not meet any standards. Towong Shire Council has successfully gained a Grant from the 2017-18 Boating Safety and Facilities program and is under a funding contract to deliver a boat ramp that meets current day standards.
