Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified consultant to facilitate and deliver Council's 'Free from Violence' project.
The focus of this project is primary prevention - preventing violence before it starts by focusing on settings where inequality and violent behaviour tends to transpire. An effective primary prevention approach reduces pressure on other parts of the system responding to family violence and violence against women, including early intervention and crisis response.
The consultant will engage the community, key stakeholders and subject matter experts in the delivery of community-led and government-led initiatives with the aim of increasing gender equality and the primary prevention of family violence.
The appointed consultant will work closely with the Preventing Family Violence Networks (PVFNs) in Corryong and Tallangatta to support community-led and evidence-based initiatives that focus on the prevention of violence against women and children. This will include working with the PVFNs to build an understanding of 'Primary Prevention' to enable and sustain cultural change.
The appointed consultant will work with the PVFNs to build a greater community understanding of the gendered drivers of violence against women and develop a Gender Equity Action Plan, comprising key strategies and priorities to achieve cultural change beyond the life of the project.
