Towong Shire Council is seeking quotations from suitably experienced and qualified contractors to undertake a super-structure reconstruction of the Watchingorra Creek Bridge near Mitta Mitta, in accordance with the enclosed scope of works, drawings and specifications.
The bridge currently has a 20-tonne gross load limitation owing to the limitation of the composite ribbed steel and concrete deck configuration. The condition rating of the bridge deck is condition state 3-4 and therefore needs replacing and upgrading.
A fully documented design for the upgrade works has been commissioned and forms part of this RFQ. The design comprises the replacement of the existing composite deck and girders with a deeper girder and precast deck units. Additionally, fender walls will be retro-fitted to the abutments with associated earth retention and rock beaching. The upgrade will permit the use of B-Doubles and raise the deck level slightly. Widening of the approach pavement is also required, together with the construction of a temporary crossing to maintain road access during the works.
