Towong Shire Council is seeking quotations from suitably experienced and qualified contractors to undertake a complete bridge reconstruction of the Mitchell’s Bridge on Guys Forest Rd (approximately 20km south west of Walwa), in accordance with the enclosed scope of works, drawings and specifications.

Mitchells Bridge is located on Guys Forest Road, approximately 3.2km to the north west of the Shelley Road in North East Victoria. The existing single lane, 8.5m single span bridge comprises a timber deck and two steel girders. The abutment wingwalls are constructed from grouted rock and the bridge is on about a 30-degree skew.

The deck has reached the end of its service life and needs to be replaced. The new design will eliminate the skew over the creek with a 14m span and provide for a two-lane crossing. The works will require the demolition of the existing structure and abutments and the construction of new concrete abutments, approach earthworks, a composite steel/concrete superstructure and associated drainage and waterway improvements.
