Towong Shire Council (TSC) has received external funding to improve community resilience across isolated townships via minor infrastructure improvements to be implemented across the Shire’s community facilities. The intention of this funding is to improve community recovery outcomes following an emergency event by:
- installing/upgrading solar power systems and batteries
- Installing water tanks
- purchasing generators
- improving communications systems.
- Upgrading electrical systems
A comprehensive audit has been undertaken of over 50 community facilities and prioritization schedule of works has been completed for 28 sites. This audit has included community engagement with many of the community hall management committees to determine the infrastructure improvements required at each venue.
