Towong Shire Council is seeking quotations from suitably qualified arborists to perform the following separable portions.
Separable Portion One:
To maintain the ongoing health of the Avenue of Honour a Winter deadwood prune of material >25mm in the Avenue of Honour consistent with AS 4373 is proposed.The scope of works includes the 103 trees within the Avenue of Honour which are predominately elm and plane trees. Minor incidental pruning within the school site is also proposed.
Separable Portion Two:
To enable the replanting of the northern end of the avenue of honour the remaining 25 end of life elm trees and associated suckers require removal, stump grinding and treating of the roots to avoid future suckering. Notwithstanding the poor structure and health of the trees there is a significant volume of salvageable timber for milling and use in future timber products. The realisation of a future purpose for this timber is key criteria in the evaluation of the proposals to the removal of the trees.
