T26/25 - SMART Water Meters Gilgandra LGA
Council currently has approximately:
• Residential water meters,
• 143 Commercial water meters,
• 84 Municipal water meters,
• 3 Industrial water meters and,
• 10 Parks and Gardens water meters.
As can be seen, water meters are predominantly residential in use and all are constrained to two localities, Gilgandra Township and the village of Tooraweenah, approximately 40km North-East of Gilgandra. Council wishes to automate the residential, commercial and municipal reading of water meters.
Currently, Council performs manual meter reading twice a year. This process is resource heavy, prone to mistakes and only allows for biannual billing cycles. The move to proceed with Automatic Meter Reading will allow for accurate and more frequent billing cycles, free up Council resources and provide additional benefits in the form of self-service information and early leak detection plus other inherent benefits.
Please note, Council owns and maintains a basic LoRaWAN network that was installed and commissioned in 2023. This network is available for any Vendor to utilise / expand if it fits within their offering.
Council is seeking suitably qualified vendors to submit offers for the installation of a complete SMART Water Meter system including a Web based user portal, data transmission devices for water meters and collection, storage and backup of the resultant data.
