T-2025-1597. Library Print Newspapers and Magazine Subscription Management Services.
The Council of the City of Sydney (the 'City) requests tenders for the provision of services for the supply of print newspapers, supply and shelf-ready services for print magazines to our nine branches across the library network.
The City's nine libraries (Customs House, Darling Square, Kings Cross, Green Square, Surry Hills, Glebe, Newtown, Ultimo and Waterloo), and two Library Links (Town Hall Express and Pyrmont) are key contributors towards Sydney's vision for a green, global and connected city while maintaining Sydney's local community villages.
The City of Sydney Library provides accessible information in various formats, languages and for different reading levels to support educational, recreational and cultural learning.
The Library provides core traditional library services such as print magazines and newspapers to our community. Items are primarily in English language and the library seeks to gain items in community languages. The City's total physical library collection size is over 345,000 items. The Library maintains approximately 360 active annual magazine subscriptions across 124 titles and 40 newspaper subscriptions across 6 titles.
The City's print magazine and newspaper collection aims to:
- Provide our community access to a trusted source of information in print formats
- Provide accessibility to print materials to our community who may not have reliable internet access, digital devices or digital literacy to navigate online resources
- Provide a wide variety of magazines on popular subjects like science, art, travel, technology, cooking to the diverse interests and languages of the community
- Ensure subscriptions are accessible as close to publications date as possible to provide accurate and current information for our community.
The City seeks to contract supplier(s) for the purpose of:

- Attachment A Magazines Specifications is indicative of the range of magazines and newspapers currently required by the City and has been provided for the purpose of providing Tenderers a basis on which to cost their tenders.
- The City will review the range of magazines and newspapers prior to implementing this Contract and reserves the right in its absolute discretion to change the range of titles required.
- The service provider must warrant that all supplied items conform to Australian copyright laws.
Term of the Agreement
The period of the contract is for three (3) years with an option to extend for an additional three (3) years. The option to exercise any extension shall be determined by the City, at the City's discretion.
