1432 - Construction of the Toogoolawah Library and Cultural Centre
Somerset Regional Council (Council) is seeking to engage the services of a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to construct the Toogoolawah Library and Cultural Centre, to be located on Lot 16 on SP135793, Cressbrook Street, Toogoolawah Qld 4313.
Jointly funded by Council and the Australian Government through the Thriving Suburbs Program, the Toogoolawah Library and Cultural Centre project will see the construction of a new library, cultural space and community hub including rooms for visiting health professionals and visitor facilities for Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) Users. The project site is located between Cressbrook Street to the west and the BVRT to the east.
Construction works are to be completed by 30 April 2027.
Tenderers are to include all works as specified and show in the specifications and detailed Issue for Tender drawings.
The project will deliver a new library and meeting rooms for use by local community members and visiting healthcare professionals including public amenities for visitors using the BVRT.
The project components include:
- Construction of a new library building with a floor area of approximately 311 square metres including a library space, interview rooms, consultation room, entry area, foyer, plant and communications room;
- Paving and soft landscape works around the building; and
- Construction of a 26-space car park with lighting and CCTV coverage including two car parks for people with a disability.
Council approved the Development Permit (DA22549) for a Material Change of Use for Community Use (Toogoolawah Gateway Centre - Library and Meeting and Interview Rooms) on Wednesday, 9 November 2022 (refer to attachments).
Council wishes to see work commence as soon as possible to ensure that the project is delivered within the specified grant funding timelines (i.e. 30 April 2027).
Council has engaged Graham Richardson Associates (GRA) as the Lead Designer (i.e. architect), Superintendent and Contract Administrator for this project.
